Yesterday I released a new update of my Firebase AdMob SDK Extension with some features that you’ll enjoy for sure. The first one and probably the most expected is a new function to comply with the GDPR. The default behavior of the Google Mobile Ads SDK is to serve personalized ads. If a user has consented to receive only non-personalized ads, you can use admob_set_gdpr_consent to specify that only non-personalized ads should be returned. In order to set this parameter you’ll need to add the following code:
I’d suggest you to first ask your users regarding the GDPR consent and then call the function above, just to be polite 😉
If you are already using a Google Play Services Extension from YoYo Games like the IAP Extension or the Google Play Services Extension, probably you had problems trying to integrate this Firebase AdMob SDK Extension due to different Google Play Services library versions. If that’s the case, then you’ll need to use the new Extension named “AdMob SDK Extension for YoYo GPS.gmez” in order to avoid issues when building your project. Basically this Extension is written under Google Play Services v11.8.0 and all the code is based on this version, just to match the same version that YoYo is using right now with their Extensions. But don’t be worried, this Extension also complies with GDPR and you’ll be able to use it.
Last but not least, for both GameMaker Studio Engine versions I’ve updated the new Firebase AdMob iOS SDK 7.31.0 released on 17 May 2018.

As usual, if you want to check the progress of this GameMaker Extension you can also do it in the public Trello Board.
