This time I wanted to update the Firebase AdMob Extension to fix an issue that some users have reported, and also to make an improvement to let you build your projects in Xcode 10.0.
The issue was related to Rewarded Video Ads when you tried to play a video ad for a second time or beyond, the ad didn’t play because the cache was empty. This issue just happened on Android for some users, in iOS everything is working fine. I’ve fixed the internal requests when your users close the video ad or when they are rewarded. Once they do those actions, the SDK will receive the new ad and store it in the cache. Everything is transparent for the user and also for you, the developer 😉
The other new thing is an improvement to adapt the iOS code to be built in Xcode 10.0. If you tried to build your project in Xcode 10.0 you probably got lot of error messages which didn’t let you build your project as expected. This improvement will let you also build your project in previous versions of Xcode at the same time 👍
Last but no least, I’d like to let you know that I started to also update the iOS SDK to the version 7.33.1 but it increased its size up to 120MB! 😱 Four times bigger than before… Something really crazy. I’m offering three Extensions inside the same package to make your life easier in order to use the Extension that fits better your needs. Using the iOS SDK 7.31.0, all three Extensions had a size up to 18MB aprox when I tried to upload the package to the YoYo Marketplace. But now that package has a size of 70MB and the YoYo Marketplace only supports uploads up to 50MB.. So I will need to think what can I do to keep updating this Extension due to those limitations. Don’t worry, I have already some ideas on mind. Now I just need some free time to do it, because I’m developing another different project.
If you follow me on Twitter, probably you know that at this moment I’m totally focused in a new project named CoinDreams. I’m making the Android and iOS app of CoinDreams to collect Blockchain projects, Cryptocurrency Exchanges and also Cryptocurrency Airdrops. It’s a great challenge because I’m making my first project with Kotlin in Android. I’m very excited to finish the Android app and upload it to the Google Play 😊 The iOS app is developed within Swift 4.1 and it’s already available in the App Store, feel free to try it if you like Cryptocurrencies or Blockchain topics.
As usual, if you want to check the progress of this GameMaker Extension you can also do it in the public Trello Board.
You can purchase the Firebase AdMob Extension from the shop with CryptoCurrencies, or also from the YoYo Marketplace with PayPal or credit card. Choose the payment method fits you better:
